Online-event WASTECONF about food saving in St. Petersburg and Hamburg

On 14 September 2020, NRO co-organised the online-event WASTECONF about food saving St. Petersburg and Hamburg together with the German-Russian Society in Hamburg e.V. and the educational platform Trava, supported by the Hamburg Senate Office.

Six German and Russian initiatives presented their organisation and activities at the event, and more than 60 participants from Germany and Russia took part in a discussion on the topic of food saving.

Such issues were discussed: How to avoid food waste? Is less or more food being thrown away in Russia than in Germany? What civil society initiatives exist in the partner cities of Hamburg and St. Petersburg on this topic – and what are the approaches to solving the problem?

At the same time, activists from Minitopia from Hamburg and one activist from Trava from St. Petersburg prepared food from leftovers and commented on this process at the beginning, middle and end of the event. Finally, participants shared their favourite waste cooking-recipes, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/3iG1Kvu.
